NYC Health Code requires owners of all residential buildings, regardless of building size, to protect the health of tenants. This means that owners must address and correct any mold conditions. To do so, owners must conduct a visual inspection of the buildings for water damage and mold growth, remove any mold found, and conduct air monitoring. If the mold exceeds 30 square feet, the owner must hire a licensed mold remediator, and air monitoring must be conducted if a tenant is diagnosed with a mold exposure disease.
